FGCDL FC signs Kendal Davis, player of #7 ranked team in the nation, Keiser University.

Cape Coral, April 12- Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is happy to announce Kendal Davis as their newest signing for the Women's Team. We had an interview with her to see what she thinks about our home opener on June 2.

FGCDL FC: Who are you, where are you from and how old are you?

I'm Kendal Davis, and I'm from Cape Coral, FL and I'm 19 years old.

FGCDL FC: What was your high school and where do you play now?

I graduated from Classical Christian Academy, but since my school didn't have high school sports, I played high school soccer at North Fort Myers High School. I play now college soccer at Keiser University in West Palm Beach, FL.

FGCDL FC: What kind of honors did you receive in your player career?

My senior year in high school, I was an all-area honorable mention for North Fort Myers High School. I had multiple starts for the #7 ranked team in the nation, Keiser University, as a freshman. I was a part of a back line that only allowed 0.69 shots on goal per game. At Keiser University, we finished conference regular season play undefeated at 10-0. Our overall record for the season was 15-3-1.

FGCDL FC: Best moment in soccer?

I've had a few awesome moments, but one of my favorites must be when I scored a corner kick header in my first ever college game. This moment meant a lot to me and it was a fantastic way to start my college career. I knew then I belonged.

FGCDL FC: Why did you choose to play for us?

I chose to play here because I wanted to challenge myself and grow as a player. Soccer is my passion and I'm extremely grateful that I have this opportunity to play here this summer. Besides that, several girls that play on the team told me great stories about the coaching and organization.

FGCDL FC: Expectations for the upcoming season?

I think our team is going to perform extremely well at this high level. I'm excited to see what we will accomplish!

Head Coach Vincent de Weger is delighted with Kendal: "She is a strong player with defensive qualities. It isn't easier to beat her and it is quite interesting to see how good she is in the air. We hope that she brings extra leadership to our defense and I look forward to work with her."
