FGCDL FC Women’s Team back for 2018 season in WPSL

Cape Coral, January 25, 2018 - Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is excited to announce that the Women's Team is back for the 2018 season in the WPSL, one tier below the NWSL.

The team will play again in the Sunshine Division with eight other clubs in Florida: Florida Sol FC, Florida Krush, FC Surge, Tampa Bay United, Team Boca Blast, International Elite, Puerto Rico Pride and Pinellas County United SC. Every club will play four home games and four away games between the end of May and mid July. The play-offs are scheduled to start the 3rd week of July. Pre-season starts the first week of May. The FGCDL FC Women's team will play their 2018 home games @North Fort Myers Community Park.

Staff

Vincent de Weger will return as Head Coach for the 2018 season. He will be assisted by Davy Hendriks (Assistant Coach) and Tina Kaiser (Fitness Coach).

Partnership ADO Den Haag

The FGCDL FC Women's Team has a partnership with Dutch Premier League club ADO Den Haag Women's Team from the Netherlands. Last year the partnership resulted in having one (experienced) player from ADO (Michelle Vrieling) playing for the team, but also a trial of one of our players, Monique Eliott, with ADO in December 2017.

Playing fee

There is a fee of $500 per player for the whole season. This includes travel, accommodation while traveling, practice and game gear, league registration and all training activities. The FGCDL FC Women's Program is considered one of the most professional ones in the Division.

League: WPSL

The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is an independent highly competitive national league, which primary focus is the development of highly competitive premier women's soccer teams. WPSL was formed in 1998 and is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the ruling body of soccer in the United States and FIFA the world's governing body for soccer. It is currently the 2nd highest league in the USA one tier below the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Try-out dates 2018 season
