History

Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC LLC is the 5th Dutch Lions FC club in the USA. After Dayton (Ohio), Houston (Texas), Cincinnati (Ohio) and New York (New York) the club officially started in April 2015 with a press conference announcing their plans to offer a top level Youth Academy to the region as well as plans to have their own facility in the near future (like the Houston Dutch Lions FC and Dayton Dutch Lions FC).

In May 2015 the club played their official first game in the USL Super20 League drawing Tampa Bay United 1-1. In August the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC started their Youth Academy with six youth teams between U6-U15. In April 2016 they added a Men's team. The team did not play in a sanctioned League but instead played eight exhibition games, mainly vs USL PDL and NPSL teams in Florida. In February 2017 the club announced the launch of a Women's team playing in the WPSL, the second tier in Women's soccer in the USA.
