Head Coach W-League - Sid van Druenen

Background

Coach van Druenen was born in the Netherlands in 1983. At the age of 5 his family moved to Portugal and there he fell in love with the game of soccer. Van Druenen played for 9 years in the youth of CD Boliqueime, being forced to stop because of injury at the age of 19. Not wanting to stop being involved in the sport he loved, he became a coach at the same soccer club and has been coaching every since, at different levels in Europe, where he coached youth teams in the Netherlands and in Portugal. Also being involved as a Fitness coach in several semi professional teams. In the summer of 2011 came the chance of moving to the USA and work for Soccer Centers in New Jersey. It was the opportunity van Druenen was waiting for, be a full time soccer coach!

At this point, van Druenen has his UEFA B license, a degree in Physical Education and Sports and 11 years of experience as a soccer coach. He has worked for the Dayton Dutch Lions FC since Novem­ber 2011 as an academy coach and also as the head coach of the Super 20 girls’ team and assistant coach of the 2012 W-League team. In September 2012 the Dayton Dutch Lions nominated van Druenen as the W League head coach and director of the program, giving him full responsibility about the Dutch Lions Women program for the upcoming years.
Coach van Druenen has helped actively in the development of several youth players to a professional level, examples of that are Rafael Floro that plays for the Portuguese FC Porto and Filipe Magalhães that plays professionally in Brazil.

 

 

Assistant W-League and GK Coach – Catherine Gordon

Background

Catherine Gordon brings over 12 years of coaching and 25 years playing experience. A former USL W-League goalkeeper for the New Jersey Wildcats she most recently served as their  goalkeeper coach from 2010-2012. Catherine was also the Assistant/Goalkeeper coach for the FDU Knights women’s soccer team for 5 years and most recently the Assistant/Goalkeeper Coach for the City College of NY Men's team who reached the Conference Semi finals this year. She has also served as the boys varsity Goalkeeping Coach for the Rancocas Valley HS (RV), since 2006. RV boys team were the 2008 State Champions and 2009 Coaches Tournament Champs. Since 2006 Catherine has been a Director at SGA (Star Goalkeeper Academy) and a Goalkeeper Coach for NJ ODP(Olympic Development Program) . In 2012 she joined the NY Red Bulls as a goalkeeper coach in their Regional Development School program, and also became a full staff member of Region I ODP .

 

Catherine is a fresh and new addition to the Dayton Dutch Lions FC, since January 1st 2013, and is going to be very actively involved in the development of the W-League program.
