FGCDL FC struggle in heat, lose 6-1 vs FC Prime

Fort Myers, July 3, 2022

The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC women's team played their last game of the 2022 season on Saturday July 2 on the road vs FC Prime. Both teams were tied in the standings coming to the game. After a 2-0 score at halftime, FC Prime scored 4 more goals in the second half, while Khaliyan Pho converting a penalty kick to score the only goal for the Lions, her first of the season.

Coach Palumbo commented on the last game: "First of all it was very tough to play, with the temperature getting close to 95F and missing a few (key) players. FC Prime had some good forwards with depth that hurt us, and while I think we deserved more - but that seems to be the case almost every game this season - we simply struggled scoring and on the other hand give goals too easy. But I have to compliment the girls, they kept working hard despite the heat. We have a great group of young girls and I hope they return next year to built off this season."
