The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC secured their first win of the season on Saturday evening beating WPSL powerhouse FC Surge, a team that had not lost since 2019. Joy Kersten scored the game winning goal in the 73rd minute off an assist of Arianna Kinsley in a shortened game due to lighting.
Isabella Gyurich, who played a key role in the game as defensive midfielder, commented on the win: "It feels great to know with such a new and partly young team that we are able to come together towards the end of the season and accomplish such a big win! I am so proud of our team and all of our hard efforts last night."
The Lions now travel to FC Surge on Wednesday for a midweek game and finish the season on Sunday when they face FC Prime, with whom they are even in points now.
