The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC women's team were close to picking up their first points in the 2022 season on Saturday vs Miami United FC at Milander Park in Hialeah.
After trailing 1-0 at halftime by a goal of Barbara Murillo, the Lions scored the equalizer in the 49th minute when Peyton Beem scored the first goal of the season. Seven minutes later Joy Kersten gave the Lions the lead scoring 2-1. It was Miami United FC that tied the game in the 75th minute off a goal of Victoria Fuentes. Murillo scored her second goal of the evening in the 85th minute to give Miami United the victory.
Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is now 0-0-2 while Miami is 2-0-1. The Lions play again this Wednesday when they play the derby vs CCSA at Mariner High School in Cape Coral.
