FGCDL FC signs College D2 Player, Annie Blagg

Cape Coral, May 17- Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions is happy to announce that Annie Blagg will play for our Women's Team. She played for Eckerd College, D2 school and is transferring to FGCU. We had an interview with her.

FGCDL FC: Who are you, where are you from and how old are you?

My name is Annie Blagg, I am 20 years old, and I am from Tampa, FL. and I went to Chamberlain High School

FGCDL FC: What is your college?

I attend Florida Gulf Coast University now and I am hoping that I can make their Women’s College team. The years before I played for Eckerd College, a division 2 school in St. Pete.

FGCDL FC: What kind of honors did you receive in your player career?

Eckerd college freshman year and had the most playing time as a freshman, All county first team in high school (4 years), played competitive at Tampa Bay United for 13 years, went to regionals for 200m and 100m track events, playing flag football for 4 years and all county first team 4 years.

FGCDL FC: What makes the FGCDL FC so different compare to other clubs?

I love that I can play in the same area where I go to school and play at a prominent level with my friends. Besides that I heard good stories from different girls about last year and I want to be part of it this year.

FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for coming season?

My expectations this summer is to grow as a player and keep played at an important level.

Head Coach Vincent de Weger is happy with Annie: " Annie brings speed, dedication and desire to our defense. With her experience at Eckerd College and Tampa Bay United she will be a great asset for our team. I look forward to work with her."

Annie and her team mates will play their 1st game coming June 2nd at 4 pm. Game will be played at North Fort Myers Community Park.
