FGCDL FC signs D2 player Rebecca Watson

Cape Coral, March 1st- Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is happy to announce Rebecca Watson as their newest player. Rebecca is a Junior at Florida Southern College and we had an interview with her.

FGCDL FC: Who are you, where are you from and how old are you?

I'm Becca Watson, I'm from Cape Coral and I just turned 21. I am a student and soccer player at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida.

FGCDL FC: What was your High school?

After middle school I decided to go to North Fort Myers High School. I Graduated Summa Cum Laude from High school.

FGCDL FC: What kind of honors did you receive in your player career?

Part of the 3rd best defensive line in the conference, Sunshine State Conference Commissioners Honor Roll. Besides that, I played in all the 27 games in my first two years at Florida Southern College.

During my club career I was named South Florida United Youth Soccer Association All-Star Team, and the All South All-Star Team.

FGCDL FC: Best moment in soccer?

My best moment in soccer is diving and heading the ball to block a shot in double overtime sophomore year against St. Leo University.  Blocking a goal like that at College Soccer level was a great moment for me.

FGCDL FC: Why did you choose to play for us?

I chose to play for the Dutch Lions to train at a high level over summer. This will help me grow as a player but also as a person, because I heard good stories about the coaches and organization at the Dutch Lions. Playing at a competitive environment never hurts anybody.

FGCDL FC: Expectations for the upcoming season?

I want to train at a high level with good soccer players around me. Besides that we are here to win games and I hope we succeed a lot in that
