Cape Coral, January 29th- Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions had a great ammount of kids trying out for our Spring Try-Outs the last weeks. Because we need an extra coach who helps Coach Davy with his U11 Boys. We had an interview with Coach Vitor.
FGCDL FC: Who is Vitor Dacunha?
I'm an ex soccer player, I was born in Brazil, where I lived most of my life.
FGCDL FC: What is your experience as a soccer player and soccer coach?
Everything started when I was 6 years old, in Brazil you start early. I played for Goiás Sport Club, then I moved to Villa Nova where I played with all my heart. Since U7 until U16 when I signed my first contract. Campineira E.C had me for 12 months on a loan where I was able to gain a lot of experience playing the Serie B of the State Championship. Returned to Villa Nova and played the Serie B of the National Championship. Since U10 I was always the captain of my teams, with leadership and was able to win a lot of Tournaments and State Championships. Then I came to USA, played in New jersey for 10 months for the Monmouth University, then moved to Florida where I went to try out for the Orlando City Pro soccer team, ended up having a knee surgery (ACL and meniscus) and quit playing after that. I played left Wing and midfielder center most of my life, giving assistance was the best part of my game! As a coach I'm licensed as F and E category. And I'm looking forward to taking more courses and get more licenses.
FGCDL FC: Which teams will you be coaching?
I will be assisting Coach Davy with the U-11 boys and I will help all the teams during tournaments and internal 3v3 tournaments.
FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for this season for both yourself and your teams?
The expectations are the best as possible, I'm excited to have this opportunity to work with Coach Davy. Learning from him it's going to add a lot for me, and I'm sure we will succeed in the next tournaments together. We will be working together to develop the kids better and faster, so we can surprise our opponents in the field.
FGCDL FC: When can we see you on the pitch?
We practice every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7.15-8.45 pm at Jim Jeffers Park. I'm always open to talk to the parents to explain any questions and concerns that they might have about our team.
