Monique Elliot on trial with Dutch Premier League club ADO Den Haag

Cape Coral, November 10, 2017 - FGCDL FC is happy to announce that Monique Elliot will travel to the Netherlands the first of December to train with FGCDL FC's partner club ADO Den Haag.

Monique started in nine games for the FGCDL FC Women's Team in the 2017 season and recorded three assists. Monique will practice and play with the Dutch Premier League club for a week and hopefully convince the staff of ADO Den Haag to sign her for the remainder of the 2017-2018 season, which runs from August to May. ADO Den Haag is currently in 3rd place behind Ajax and FC Twente.

Head Coach Vincent de Weger is very pleased with the opportunity given to Monique: "Monique traveling to Europe and train with a Premier League club is exactly what makes the Dutch Lions FC different than other clubs in the region. The Dutch Lions FC clubs provide a 'Gateway to professional soccer' and we hope that Monique is the first of many local players that will get this chance through our academy and Women's team. I am sure she will not only enjoy this opportunity but also learn a lot in a short time and we wish her all the best".

FGCDL FC interviewed Monique about her upcoming trial with ADO Den Haag:

FGCDL FC: Who is Monique Elliot?

Monique: I am from Cape Coral, Florida. I am 23 years old and I just recently moved back to Cape Coral from St. Petersburg after graduating College.

FGCDL FC: How did you got selected for the FGCDL FC 2017 WPSL Women's Team?

Monique: The Assistant Coach of the former Women's team in Cape Coral (Palm City FC) informed me about the try-outs of the new (FGCDL FC) team which I attended. Hard work and my skills got me through the try-outs to make the team.

FGCDL FC: How was your experience with the team?

Monique: I was able to experience a fun environment filled with girls older and younger than me. Outside the games and training, we were able to grow closer to each other during several team bonding events. Coaching wise, I was able to experience a different style of play, which I was able to adapt quickly and can now also relate to more.

FGCDL FC: When did you hear that you were invited to go on trial with ADO Den Haag in The Netherlands?

Monique: I heard about the invitation for a trial with ADO Den Haag in the beginning of October.

FGCDL FC: How are you preparing for your trip?

Monique: I have been working out and trying to get (game) fit. I also have been researching the team, the league and the area to make sure I am also mentally prepared - including the weather change haha.

FGCDL FC: Can people follow you during your trip?

Monique: Yes, you can follow my journey through my Instagram posts.

FGCDL FC wishes Monique all the best the coming weeks.
