Cape Coral, September 5th- Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC Youth Academy plays their first tournament at Naples on the weekend of Labor Day. Together with Coach Danilo Cortes will we look forward to the season.
FGCDL FC: Which team do you coach this year?
This year I'm going to be assisting both coach DAVY and coach John with the U11 and U14 teams respectively as well as just being available to help out with everything club related. Anything thea club needs, we're always working together helping out and just plain simple being an orange family.
FGCDL FC: Is this a totally new team or do you have players that were at FGCDL FC last season?
We have a great combination of players both new and from last season. The kids from last season are extremely happy and excited for the new season and new kids are already feeling right at home in the club and of course, we're super happy to welcome all the families into our Orange family.
FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for this coming season?
My expectations for this season are the same as any season. We want to go out there and win as many games/tournaments as possible but the main thing is to make sure our players develop their skills on the field as well as in life to the fullest of their potential. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a kid go from not knowing how to kick a soccer ball, to halfway into the season dribbling past other kids and scoring or just plain simple playing great soccer.
FGCDL FC: When can we see your team practice?
Our kids are out here bettering their skills every week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The U11's practice earlier in the afternoon from 5:45-7 and the U14 from 7:00-8:15. As well as from time to time we make up practices on Saturday mornings due to weather cancellations during the week in order to prepare for tournaments and make sure the kids and the parents get their deserved touches and field time.
We as Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC wishes Coach Danilo and his players a great season.
