Cape Coral, August 28th- First of all, we hope that everybody is safe after this rainy weekend. Coming weekend we have our first games at the Publix Labor Day Tournament in Naples. A great moment to look forward to the season with Director of Soccer Operations Vincent de Weger.
FGCDL FC: Which team do you coach this year?
To continue our consistency in the club, I am again the coach of our 02/U16 girls team this year.
FGCDL FC: Is this a totally new team or do you have players that were at FGCDL FC last season?
We have 11 returning players and 3 new players in our team. We have 1 player that always will help us with the tournaments, so that gives me 14 girls to practice with and 15 to play the tournament with.
FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for this coming season with your 02/U16 girls team?
My expectations for this season are big. The core is already with each other for more than a year and the girls that are new to the team bring some different qualities. Our new goalkeeper, Olivia, is a great goalkeeper that gives us extra possibilities. Together with my new assistant coach Coach Sarah I really look forward to developing this team in a winning team.
FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for this coming season for the club?
Our club just started their third season and the start is decent. We have some full teams, but also some teams that have 1 or 2 open spots. The coaches are ready to develop the players on their soccer skills but also mentally and physically. We go for as much as possible trophies, but the main focus in our Youth Academy will be developing the players in a better player than they were last year..
FGCDL FC: Can players still sign up or try-out for your club?
Yes, that is possible. They have to contact us (239-400-9404 or info@fgcdlfc.com) and we will invite them for a practice to show their skills.
FGCDL FC: When can we see your team practice?
The 02/U16 girls practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7 pm until 8.45pm.
