FGCDL FC signs Lorena Alvarado

Cape Coral, April 14th- Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is happy to announce Lorena Alvarado from GPS Knights as their newest player of the Women's team. We had an interview with Lorena and Head Coach Vincent de Weger

FGCDL FC: Who are you, where are you from and how old are you?

My name is Lorena Alvarado, I was born in Naples, Florida and I am 14 years old.

FGCDL FC: What are your former clubs?

I currently play for GPS FL West 02. But in the past I played for San Carlos Scorpions (1 season) and Florida Fire Juniors (3 seasons).

FGCDL FC: What kind of honours did you receive in your player career?

Currently I am honored to serve my team as the Captain

This year I am part of the FYSA ODP pool where the results for the state team have yet to be released.

In 2016 I played for the Florida GPS Elite Team G01.

In 2015 I was nominated to represent FL Fire Juniors at the Chicago Fire Elite ID

FGCDL FC: What is your best moment in soccer?

My best moment in soccer was probably this year in Presidents Cup when I scored two goals in a single game. It had never happened before so I was very excited. Both goals were shot from outside of the 18, and went right into the upper corner of the goal. The first goal I hit it off a left-footed volley and the second goal was when I cut the ball behind me to get past a defender and I shot it with my right foot. Best of all the 2 goals were just enough to win the game.

FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

My personal goal this season is to become an all-around better player.

I am very excited because I will have great professional coaching and I will be playing with high level players.

This season I am willing to leave it all on the field. I am also confident that we will have a successful season.

Head Coach Vincent de Weger is delighted with Lorena: " A girl of her age with that kind of qualities is that we want in our team. Our team is a diverse team of experiences and youngsters. For Lorena it will be a season were we teach her Women's soccer. For the future she is somebody to keep an eye on and I am happy that we can give her that spot to learn.
