FGCDL FC U13G 2nd at the Dimitri Cup

FGCDL FC U13G 2nd at the Dimitri Cup

Cape Coral, January 23 - The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC performed great at the last Dimitri Cup for the U13. With a 2nd place for the U13G and with some good games for the U13B. The U8, U9, and the U16G had a 3v3 tournament at Ida Baker Highschool.

The U13B played the first game, at the Dimitri Cup, the way they practiced during the last weeks. Building up from the back, high pressure ,and good positioning. But they forgot to finish the chances. In the last minutes of the game they scored twice and won the first game. The second game they lost due to individual mistakes. The 3rd game on Sunday was a game against the weather. Due to the wind they lost with 1-0. The coach saw a lot of good things, but also points that have to be improved during the upcoming weeks.

The U13G performed great at the Dimitri Cup. In the first game against West Pines they showed their improvements in the last months. Good combinations, one touches, and personal dribbles. They lost the first game, but can be proud about how they played against this strong team. The second game was against Pine Crest. In the first quarter the FGCDL FC U13G had high pressure at the opponents half and had some shots at the goal. But with a great team goal the FGCDL FC U13G won the game with 1-0. On Sunday they needed to get a draw to end up in the final. With a final score of 1-1 they reached the final. Note on this game. Madeline Harkness scored with a goal from 30 yards.

The closer the final came, the stronger the wind blew. In the final they faced West Pines again. The players knew they have the same playing style. Because of the wind both coaches had to change their style. The ball couldn’t come out of the box and every shot was dangerous. With a 4-0 loss the FGCDL FC ended 2nd at the Dimitri Cup and can be proud of themselves. Great performance girls!

The U8, U9, and the U16G had a 3v3 tournament at Ida Baker Highschool. Some great dribbles, lots of touches, and a lot of fun summarizes the day for those teams.

Next week the U16B and U16G will play at the Dimitri Cup.
