Cape Coral, December 2, 2016 - In the last few weeks the FGCDL FC Coaches and Program Assistants held the player-parent-coach meetings with every player.
All the Coaches and Program Assistants talked with the players and parents about the progress in their development. Both what they do well and points they have to work on. The evaluation is done by a scorecard that was filled out by the Coaches and Program Assistants. At the end of the scorecard every player also had to mention the points of improvement that they see and how they will work on these points during the upcoming practices, games and tournaments. During the 2nd meeting in February, the scorecard wil be compared with the current scorecard. The parents of each player attended the meeting to listen and was able to ask questions. Because of this, all parties involved in the player development process are aware of what a player does well and what the coach is expecting towards improvement.
The player-parent-coach meetings are part of the FGCDL Player Development Plan. The Player Development Plan is the program that the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC Youth Academy uses to structure and document the current level and improvement points of every player. So when the player gets another coach in the next years that coach can review the development of the player from previous years. Both off and on the pitch. With the meetings and PDP FGCDL FC creates an environment where there is an open communication about expectations and (self)reflection.
