Cape Coral, Saturday November 5 – This weekend FGCDL FC organized a 3v3 tournament for the whole Youth Academy. The U11G/U13G played a game against Elite.
In the early morning, the U8 and U9 teams entered Jim Jeffers Park to play their 3v3 tournament while Brandon Johnson, Chris Vianest, Sawyer Johnston, Sergio Zarate, Zack Decorte, Mario Chaoui and Cameron Trinkle served as referees. They did an outstanding job. After the U8 and U9 teams the U10-U13 played their tournament and at 1pm the U15-U17 started. All the players showed their skills and it was great to see how much they already improved in a few months. The development of skills is an important reason why FGCDL FC plays 3v3 tournaments.
The U11G-U13G team played a game against Elite at Gateway. FGCDL FC started strong, resulting in a 3-0 lead right at halftime. Elite scored 2 goals to make it 3-2 but the girls bounced back and scored 4-2 and then 5-2 before Elite scoring 2 more goals to make it 5-4. The Lions were able to hold on to the lead though securing a win. The game was certainly promising towards the further development of the players and team.
