Cape Coral, Florida, October 24th 2016 – Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is very pleased to announce that the club will join the Super Y League of United Soccer leagues (USL) in 2017. FGCDL FC will play in the U10 Boys, U11 Boys, U12 Boys, U13 Boys and U14 Boys competition against other clubs in Florida.
The season runs from June to the beginning of August 2017 with the finals in December in Tampa. All practices and games will be at North Fort Myers Community Park in North Fort Myers.
The Super Y League (www.sylsoccer.com) is one of the top youth leagues in the USA. The USL Super Y League has the objective to provide young talented players an experience that is unparalleled in youth soccer. The Super Y League shares the same passion for player development as the Dutch Lions FC clubs and realizes that in order to be an elite club, you must play in an elite league.
The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC will play their games with players from the Lee County area. Jouko Gorissen of the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is extremely happy with being accepted into the Super Y League: “The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is very proud to be part of the Super Y. Same as with the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC, the USL provides a "gateway to professional soccer" and the Super Y League (including it's National Player Pool, USL Experience and Scouting Series) is a first chance for top talents in our region to get a taste for professional soccer. All teams that compete in the Super Y League will be trained and coached by UEFA C, B or A licensed coaches. It will definitely raise the soccer level in South West Florida”.
About Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC
Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC was founded in April 2015 in Cape Coral. Scouting and developing young players to obtain a soccer scholarship and/or become professional soccer players in the USA or Europe is part of the Dutch Lions FC vision. The Dutch Lions FC strives to be a leading institute in the area of scouting and developing young players in the USA based on the Dutch development philosophy. There are currently five Dutch Lions FC clubs in the USA (Dayton, Cincinnati, Houston, New York and Cape Coral) and a minority ownership in FC Cincinnati who just finished their inaugural season in USL PRO averaging over 18,000 fans per game. Since 2010 many Dutch Lions FC players have become professional in all three professional soccer leagues in the USA but also in Europe.
Vincent de Weger is also very pleased joining the Super Y League: “Playing in the Super Y League is the next step in our ambition to become the best soccer club in the area offering unique opportunities for player to become professional. Competing with our teams in the Super Y League will definitely help the development of all the best players in the region. We will have players from our club, but also players from the area that currently play for other clubs. Since the league takes place between June and August it gives a good opportunity to partner with several local clubs as well”.

The try-outs for the teams will be held January 27th, February 24th and March 3rd. The try-outs will be at North Fort Myers Community Park. More information and how to register will be announced soon.
