FGCDL FC adds Davy Hendriks to staff

Cape Coral, October 6 2016 – The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is very pleased to announce that Davy Hendriks has joined the FGCDL FC Youth Academy Program. Davy is from the Netherlands and has his UEFA C and B license. FGCDL FC interviewed Davy today about who he is.

FCGCDL FC: Who is Davy Hendriks?

My name is Davy Hendriks, I am 28 years old and born and raised in Arnhem in the Netherlands.
I have played soccer since I was 6 years old. Unfortunately I was forced to stop because of a serious ankle injury. Since then I’m a soccer coach, I also got my UEFA C and B license.

FGCDL FC: What is your first impression arriving in Cape Coral?

It feels great to be here. My first impression is fantastic. I enjoy the kindness of everyone.  I heard about the “Orange Family feeling” we are creating but I am happy that I can feel it now myself. I didn’t expect that to feel so soon.

FGCDL FC: What soccer experience and expertise do you bring to the club?

As I said, I played soccer since I was 6 years old and I have always played at a high level. I also played in Thailand and pro club AGOVV Apeldoorn (1st Division) in The Netherlands. Playing for those clubs was great and I learned a lot. As a soccer coach, I trained different age categories. I think with my experience and knowledge I can contribute to the development of the players.

FGCDL FC: This is the second time you come to the USA, what made you come back?

The last time I was in the States was 8 years ago, but I've always wanted to come back. I think I can develop myself here as a person and certainly as a coach. The (winning) mentality is a motivation for me to be here. Besides that the (big) plans that the club has really appealed to me. I am excited to be part of that the coming years.

FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for the coming year?

I don’t really have expectations for this year. I hope I can make an important contribution to the club and also to the development of the players in our Youth Academy. Especially at the younger ages, fun is one of the key elements to be able to perform, so I will certainly try to make sure that the players have fun at practice and the games and of course develop as much as possible.

FGCDL FC: When do we see you in action for the first time?

Last weekend I went to the Elite Soccer Cup and watched a lot of games of various teams. In addition, I was able to get acquainted with the players and parents. You will see me tonight at practice, tomorrow at the FGCDLFC Trainingschool and Saturday at the Orange Family Event: Opening Day.

I look forward to meet everyone.
