Cape Coral, August 23, 2016 - Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is very pleased to announce that Jahdea Gildin has joined the FGCDL FC Youth Academy coaching staff. FGCDL FC spoke with Jahdea about joining the club as the 2016-2017 goalkeeper coach.
FGCDL FC: Who are you, where are you from and what is your soccer background?
Jahdea: I was born in California and raised between Cincinatti, NY, and SWFL. After picking up soccer in 2nd grade one of my coaches noticed I liked to slide and spend time on the ground so he suggested to try and play goalie. From there until 9th grade I split time playing goalie and center mid with my friend who was also doing the same. Starting the 10th grade season I strictly played goalkeeper. This lead me to being able to walk on to the inaugural FGCU D1 men's team. From FGCU my career has so far taken me to play for the SWFL Hurricanes, SWFL Adrenaline, Truro City FC (in England), and currently the FGCDL FC Men's team.
FGCDL FC: How did you get to play for the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC?
Jahdea: I went to the trial early on the first day to make sure I was noticed and did my best. A few days later one of the coaches contacted me and offered me a place as goalkeeper in the first Men's team.
FGCDL FC: What is your role in the Youth Academy next season and what are your ambitions?
Jahdea: I am the goalkeeping coach and I'm looking forward to working with everyone to make our club a staple for success starting from the back of the field. How you do anything is how you do everything.
FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for next season?
Jahdea: I plan on helping our players and specifically goalkeepers reach their highest potential enabling them to follow their dreams. Weather it takes them forward in the soccer world or in another direction, dedication and hard work translates in every field.
Daan Uithof, one of FGCDL FC's Program Assistant, is very pleased with Jahdea: "He's for sure a contribution to our coaching staff. Jahdea is someone with a great personality and has a lot of qualities as a goalkeeper coach. We know for sure that the keepers in the Youth Academy will develop while training with Jahdea.
