FGCDL FC adds Vincent de Weger to staff

Cape Coral, July 20 2016 - The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is very pleased to announce that Vincent de Weger has joined the FGCDL FC Youth Academy Program. Vincent is from the Netherlands and has worked for the Dutch Lions FC before, being part of the start-up of the Houston Dutch Lions FC in 2011. He then went back to the Netherlands to get his bachelors degree. He graduated this month in Sportmarketing. FGCDL FC interviewed Vincent today about who he is.

FGCDL FC: Who is Vincent de Weger?

Vincent de Weger: I'm 25 years old, just graduated in Sportmarketing three weeks ago and I am very sport minded. In my youth I was active in tennis, fitness, running and ofcourse soccer.  During my playing career, I also got my UEFA C coaching license. I’m someone who likes an adventure, that is also what attracted me to help start Houston Dutch Lions FC and now Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC in the USA.

FGCDL FC: What is your first impression arriving in Cape Coral?

Vincent de Weger: Cape Coral is a pretty big city if you compare it to most cities in the Netherlands. It's not quite as big as Amsterdam or Rotterdam, but there is so much space and the environment is unbelievable. The house where I live in (with the other staff members) is also great. I can’t wait to get started now.

FGCDL FC: What soccer experience and expertise do you bring to the club?

Vincent de Weger: I have my UEFA C license and have been training and coaching for more then 10 years. I have been responsible for both boys teams and girls teams at various division levels in the Netherlands. Besides my experience and expertise on the field I can also work in the organization based on my education.

FGCDL FC: This is the second time you come to the USA, what made you come back?

Vincent de Weger: The concept of the Dutch Lions FC attracts me very much. I love soccer, help make players develop as much as possible and work in a different culture. I addition, I think that America is a beautiful country with a real sports mentality. A win-win situation for me.

FGCDL FC: What are your expectations for the coming year?

Vincent de Weger: I noticed that the club is growing in numbers of players, but also in structure and efficiency.

I want to help grow the club even more. In the quality of the training, the organization of our academy, but also academy events and reach out to the community through clinics in schools etc.

FGCDL FC: When do we see you in action for the first time?

Vincent de Weger: This week we have a summer camp from 9am-12pm. I will be there to assist and conduct several drills with the kids. Hopefully I see many of you out there and meet in person! I definitely like to become part of the Orange Family here as quickly as possible.
