Cape Coral, Florida, May 31 2016 – The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is proud to announce Daan Uithof as Academy Director starting June 12, 2016. FGCDL FC sat down with Daan to discuss his new position and introduce him.
Can you introduce yourself?
"My name is Daan Uithof, I am 31 years old and since 15 years I have been involved in soccer as a Manager and Coach in the Netherlands in various levels and different age categories."
Where are you from?
"I was born in Rotterdam. For the last 18 years I have lived in Breda, a city close to the Belgian border and about as large as Cape Coral."
What is your educational background?
"I have a degree in Teaching and Managing in Sports (CIOS). I also have a UEFA B coaching license."
Where did you play yourself?
"I played in the youth academies of pro club Sparta Rotterdam (premier league) and Baronie (2nd division) in Breda. I also played in a Men's team at the 2nd highest Division in the Dutch Amateur League."
What clubs did you coach?
"I coached in the youth academies of the professional soccer clubs RBC Roosendaal (first division) and Willem II Tilburg (premier league). As a trainer/coach I was also in charge of the 1st team of SvSSS at Udenhout and vv Dinteloord in the Men's amateur competition."
What is your best moment in soccer?
"In the second year we became champion with SvSSS with 20 points more than number two in the standings. In the whole season we lost only once."
What is your goal with the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC
"It want to bring the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC Youth Academy to a very high level, where youth players can make the next step in their development and for some even a potential professional soccer career. I motivate players to work hard with a lot of fun and with their team to get better every day. And enjoy the Orange family!"
