Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC earns 2-2 draw against nationally ranked (12) Chivas Florida

Cape Coral, May 7 2016 – The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC Men’s team played their 3rd game of the season against Chivas Florida on Friday in Sarasota. The Lions came back from behind twice and picked up their first point of the season: 2-2.

The first half started with a lot of chances for both team. After two minutes Roy Kemna got a through ball from right defender Andre Blanco and went one on one with the Chivas goalie but his shot was saved.  After 10 minutes Chivas made the 1-0 after a good attack. Not long after that right defender Andre Blanco passed the ball to right midfielder Olivier Benedict and received it back. He played it deep to Roy Kemna who crossed the ball to forward David Antunez. David finished calmly to tie the game: 1-1. After the goal both teams created some more chances, but the score remained 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half the teams started the same as the first half. In the 48th minute Chivas Florida scored their second goal of the night after a good cross from the right side. After the 2-1 the Lions started to play more offensively and showed some good pressure and positioning resulting in several good chances. Alvis hit the crossbar and ‘Bobo’ went one on one with the goalie but his shot lacked power. In the 80th minute the Lions did manage to score the equalizer. Oscar Camacho got the ball from Daniel Medina and the left winger started a run on he outside, dribbled passed his opponent and crossed the ball in front of the goal to Alvis who headed the ball in the goal: 2-2. The Lions tried to push for the winning goal but could not score again.

The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC play again this Sunday at 5PM in Orlando against Kraze United. The first home game is May 15 at 5pm when they play Kraze United at 5pm at Island Coast High School. You can purchase tickets for the game at fgcdlfc.com
