Cape Coral, Florida, May 24 2016 - The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC organized the last Orange Family Event on Sunday May 22. The Orange Family ended the year with a barbecue and parent vs kids soccer games.
On a warm Sunday afternoon the Orange Family came together one more time to finish the year in style. After seven other events, such as visiting a Tampa Bay Rowdies soccer game, celebrating Halloween and Sinterklaas (a typical Dutch festivity with presents and rhymes being exchanged between players) and a Bowling Night, the Orange Family (including all coaches and staff) came together for a bbq and parent vs kids games.
Around 1PM Derick Woolf and Kevin Schaal brought the huge bbq to make sure the food was well prepared. With over 100lbs of food the gentlemen had a lot of preparation to do.
When the clock turned to 4PM the Orange Family arrived at Jim Jeffers Park for the event. Over 100 people joined. All the teams played against their parents and the coaches, while the rest enjoyed the weather and the bbq.
At the end of the day the coaches handed out the FGCDL Trophies for the "Team of the Year" and thanked all their sponsors, parents and all other people that helped out in the 2015-2016 season.
After a little break in the summer, the Orange Family Events will start again August 20, when the whole Academy goes to the Tampa Bay Rowdies again but this time not only to watch a professional game but also have a clinic for the kids in the stadium. More news will be announced shortly!
