Great experience for the U15 girls at the Kelme Cup

This weekend the U15 girls played in the Kelme Cup in Naples. It was their first tournament after the winterbreak.

Our first game was Saterday afternoon against Cooper City. In the second half of the game the Dutch Lions had more opportunities and they made a fantastic goal. With a great pass Ireland found Kylie on the wing. She passed the ball to Victoria and she was 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper. After a good cut she scored! The whole Dutch Lions crowd was celebrating. Unfortunately we lost the game. Cooper City won the next day the final.

After a break of 7 hours we had our second game. The Dutch Lions faced Weston Select. After 10 minutes in the game our goalkeeper Elizabeth got injured and the team was in shock. After half time the team wanted to play good for her and themselves. That results in a great 10 minutes of the second half. They had a lot of opportunities and position on the ball. The backup goalkeeper Maya had a lot of great safes. In the second half we deserved a better result but we lost the game.

On Sunday we played our last game of the tournament. This game was also against Weston select. The Dutch Lions girls worked really hard and had a couple of chances but they couldn’t score a goal.

The tournament was a great experience for the girls who were younger than the other teams in the bracket.
