History

Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC LLC is one of the six Dutch Lions FC club in the USA. After Dayton (Ohio), Houston (Texas) and Cincinnati (Ohio) the club officially started as number 4 in April 2015 with a press conference announcing their plans to start a Youth Academy.

In May 2015 the club played their official first game in the USL Super20 League drawing Tampa Bay United 1-1. In August the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC started their Youth Academy with six youth teams between U6-U15. Between 2015 and 2019 the Youth Academy grew to 185 players in the Youth Academy and 80 players in the Lions Club, a training school for kids <U7.

In April 2016 the club added a Men's team. The team did not play in a sanctioned League but instead played eight exhibition games, mainly vs USL PDL and NPSL teams in Florida. The only home game was played in front of 800 fans.

In February 2017 the club announced the launch of a Women's team playing in the WPSL, the second tier in Women's soccer in the USA. In 2018 the Women's team won the Sunshine Conference Championship also qualifying for the WPSL National Championship round 1 (final 8). The team has an official partnership with Dutch Premier League Club ADO Den Haag. In the last two seasons both Monique Elliot and Emelie Liljerad went on trial with ADO in The Netherlands after successful seasons in the Women's team.
