Cape Coral, Florida, April 23 2016 – The Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC is pleased to announce their first home game of the new FGCDL FC Men’s team on Sunday May 15 at 5pm against Kraze United of the NPSL. The game will be played at Island Coast High School.
The team starts training this week and plays it’s first game on the road when they travel to Miami to take on Miami City FC of the USL PDL on Wednesday April 27. Other opponents this season includes IMG Bradenton (USL PDL), Tampa Bay Rowdies II (NPSL) and Boca Raton (APSL). The team consists of a lot of local players and were scouted and signed the last few months. Over 90 people showed up at the try-outs.
The home game on the 15th of May will not only consist of a high level soccer game but also have several fun activities for kids and families to have a great night out. There will be a bouncehouse for kids, a “human tunnel” that kids can join when the players walk on tot he pitch, a dance performance of a local dance team at half-time, a free t-shirt toss during the game, a live singer of the National anthem and all fans have the opportunity to get autographs from the players on the pitch after the game. Several more activities will be announced the coming weeks.
General Manager Jouko Gorissen had this to say on the upcoming match: “Our first home game for the men’s team has to be celebrated. That’s why we will work together with all the local schools to invite all kids from the area to come see the game. We want to fill the stadium up and make it an event they will never forget.”
